Trivia?

[edit]

"I love the story of Nevill Mott, Master of Caius College, Cambridge and former Professor of Physics at the University of Bristol. He was on a train from London to Bristol when he simultaneously remembered three things: first, he was no longer Professor of Physics at Bristol but at Cambridge; second, he had gone to London by car and not by train; and third, he had been accompanied by his wife." May be sourceable ... but would we want it int he article anyway? Springnuts (talk) 16:38, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The version I've heard is a little different as regards part three: his wife had stayed at home, and asked him on his return "where's the car?", at which point he realised his error. There's a similar story I've heard about J J Thomson, Master of Trinity College, to the effect that his wife had to make sure he had remembered to put his trousers on. --Brian Josephson (talk) 21:23, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ion typos

[edit]

I think there are typos in the phrase If this second field had a direct and ion lasting consequence ion the research activity of John (Jack) Mitchell . . ..

The second 'ion' no doubt should be 'on', but i'm not sure what, if anything, the first 'ion' should be replaced by. Son of eugene (talk) 03:53, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
